Where they started

Atomic was known as a film studio, and by the time they came to us that was no longer an accurate description of what they did. The capability had widened well past film. The brand had not moved with it.

That gap has a direct commercial cost, and it is easy to miss because nothing looks broken. Clients brief you for the thing your brand names. Atomic was being asked for film, quoting film, and winning film, while the larger engagements they were equipped to run went to studios that simply said so on their homepage. A brand that describes one discipline caps both the size and the type of brief that reaches you.

Why a studio hires a studio

Every creative business we have worked with has the same untreated condition. The client work is excellent and the studio's own brand is three years old, half finished, and permanently at the bottom of the list. It is not a skills gap. It is that internal work has no deadline, no budget, no client to answer to, and infinite room for opinion.

Atomic had tried internally more than once. Each attempt stalled in the same place, not on execution but on decisions. Everyone in the room was a senior creative with a valid argument, nobody could be overruled, and the project quietly went back on the shelf.

Hiring us solved a specific problem. An outside team creates the constraints internal work never has: real deadlines, a defined scope, a paid engagement somebody has to sign off, and crucially an outside read on what the studio actually looked like from a prospect's side of the screen. That last one is genuinely impossible to get from inside.

What we did

From film studio to full service

The core of the project was a repositioning, not a redesign. We moved Atomic from a film studio to a full service studio: one team clients could hand a whole problem to rather than one deliverable. That meant defining what the full offer actually was, in the order a client would buy it, and then making sure every part of the brand said that before anyone had to explain it on a call. Positioning first, because a visual system built on the old story would have looked better and sold the same work.

Evolution, not reinvention

The positioning changed. The equity did not need to. Atomic had real recognition and a portfolio that carried it, and throwing that away would have cost more than it earned. So we evolved the identity rather than replacing it: tightened the marks, resolved the inconsistencies that had accumulated across years of applying a system nobody had time to maintain, and stretched it to hold up across a wider range of work than it was originally built for. Clients who already knew Atomic recognised them. Clients who did not now read the right thing first.

A site that shows the range

The old site was a film reel, which is exactly what you build when film is the offer. The new one had to prove range without diluting into a service list, so we structured it around the work with the non-film projects given equal weight and equal room. Fewer projects, presented better, ordered so a visitor understands the breadth before they reach the footer. Every project deserves to be looked at rather than skimmed past in a grid.

Design and build in one place

We built it as well as designed it, so the design that got approved is the design that shipped, without the translation loss that happens when design and build sit with different vendors.

The result

Atomic stopped being briefed as a film studio. The brand named the full offer, the site proved it, and the conversation with a new client started at the scope they were actually equipped to run instead of at the one discipline they were known for. The decision deadlock broke the moment there was an outside team accountable for the outcome, and that was the quieter half of the deliverable.
